fpc-ctl and Thrasher Updates
I did some work this week on the media side of Thrasher. I intended to work on playlists, but my mind went elsewhere. Most of the changes made were little cleanups, fixes, and catches. The one new thing was making facets and people clickable in the web UI to run a query on that facet or person. This was ported over to the music side of things.
I should probably run a new build on t.fp.n so that people can take advantage of that, as well as the fact that the previous button now acts like it does on pretty much all other music players (jumps to beginning of current track unless you push it twice in two seconds).
But that is currently stuck behind the other stuff I started doing
this week: a minor overhaul of fpc-ctl. To summarize:
- The old undocumented “specify an alternative config file” feature, which quit working due to changes in the current version (0.5), is gone
- In its place is work on support for defining multiple builds for a project.
- Accompanying this is a rework of the build configuration
- It’s now part of the project JSON config rather than the local shell extension file
- So
fpc-ctlhas grown some more extensive configuration capabilities, which is leading toward further genericization of the project overall
This is about half done, I think. It is finishable tomorrow if that’s what I decide to do with tomorrow.
Getting that dnoe will let me do the thing that kicked off this rework in the first place: stand up a media-only build of TMS so that the media catalog can be available on the network. And ths impetus for this, in turn, was me getting started cataloging the print media in the house.
And then I should roll a new build of TMS for the other side of things.
